More Than My Necessary Food

Isaiah 55:11: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

We need the wonderful will of God. We won*t have it if we leave our Bibles on the coffee table unopened.

Job 23:12: Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

I have asked the Lord to make the Bible a greater blessing to me and help me to be more committed to it. He has shown me some nooks and crannies, more times in my life when I can study my Bible, waiting for someone, in between chores, etc. He has actually given me a distaste for some of the other time-consuming activities in my life so that I will study my Bible oftener. I did not think it was possible, but He has made it more enjoyable. Sometimes it excites me and I cannot put it down. Sometimes it gives me great peace and I am able to take a necessary and restful nap. It meets needs that I don*t even know that I have at exactly the right time. He will cause the Bible to do those things for you too if you are committed to it. The Bible can meet the immediate needs AND the ones we have at some later time. If you remain committed to the Bible, the Holy Spirit will place in your mind exactly the right passage from the Bible at exactly the right time to meet every need. Sometimes we need its nourishment right now and sometimes we need it later. It can provide spiritual nourishment right now and for the rest of our lives. Sometimes He meets my needs with a verse I read just this morning and sometimes He does that with a verse I read some time ago.

Luke 4:4: And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

The Bible can replace the strife in your life with great peace.

Psalms 119:165: Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

The Bible can guide you in every step and every decision.

Psalms 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

If you have trouble knowing the will of God or making decisions, you are not studying the Bible enough. You need the Bible. I need the Bible.
